#30DaysofPride Day 3

I am participating in a 30 Days of Pride Challenge and thought that these stories might be an inspiration to you whether you fall somewhere on the rainbow, or just want to live your life more authentically.

Would you believe that I once got fired for being gay? It was when I was living in West Palm Beach. I worked for a startup called MusicDepot.com which was basically an online music store where you could order your CDs (this is pre-streaming folks)

I was in customer service and they had over hired so our task was to go into chat rooms and talk about the site. I went into gay.com because let’s face it, I was the only gay person in the room, they have a disposable income, and they are trendsetters.

They pulled up my browsing history, saw the site, and called me into the office. I tried to explain my reasonings (Gay.com was not really a hookup site but more like an online version of a bar) but they were not having it.

A month later they closed down and I landed my first major website client, Numberquest.
Moral of the story: Don’t fuck with the gays folks…
